Wounded Warrior Half Marathon Playlist

Because nothing says Happy Birthday like race bling, I'm doing the Wounded Warrior Half Marathon on Sunday. Well bling, and the fact that it's a great organization that The Aussie and I believe in. Even though I really hate don't like running outside when it's hot out, I am doing this race. Even if it means I'm walking for half of it. My reasoning is that if the service people who are helped by this organization can deal with their injuries and trauma, I can suck it up and run/walk 13.1 miles in their honor.

I spent much of my lunch hour tweaking my alternate playlist. Alternate, because I would like to do as much of this to the Run To Cadence with the Navy Seals. I want a back up in case I start to lose my sanity by the 3rd time through for this set and start to think I actually am running with a bunch of hot guys in Navy uniforms. Hence, an alternate playlist with LOTS of music. Hopefully I won't hear anywhere near to all of these songs. Ginger, from twitter, was interested in what I came up with, so in no particular order, here it is! (Gee, can you half tell I'm a Gemini? These songs are all over the place.)

10k Rematch Playlist, Honeybadger Style

So, I picked up my race packet this afternoon for the 10k tomorrow. This should be interesting. The weather will be in the mid-50s at the start of the race, but it's also going to be really windy tomorrow. Much better than mid-90s like it was in July. I also met a really cool woman, about my age, who was picking up her packet. She's never done a 10k before, so she's excited. I look forward to meeting up with her tomorrow. I don't expect to be running with her because her 5k pace would leave me in the dust. We'll see.

Anywho, in honor of getting my butt back out on the racecourse, I have put together a new running playlist. One with Honeybadger attitude.

I Will Possess Your Heart - Death Cab For Cutie (extended version, warm up music)
Solar Midnight - Lupe Fiasco (old faithful)
Ready To Go - Republica
Lose Yourself - Eminem
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - The Police
Big Neon Glitter - The Cult
Don't Change - INXS
Times Like This - Foo Fighters
Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne (yes, I'm a MFing Princess..)
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
These Days - Foo Fighters

Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters (Trainer Dude suggested this one)
Major Tom - Shiny Toy Guns (another old faithful from last playlist)
Mr. Brightside - The Killers
What's My Scene - Hoodoo Gurus
Dear Prudence - Siousie & The Banshees

Yup, this should be interesting...

I am a child of the 80s

Me, circa 1983

Not that I was born in the 80s. Nooooo. Far from it. My taste in music, ridiculously diverse as it is, leads me back to the 80s again and again. So, in honor of all things neon, pants with rolled cuffs (how is it they're back in style??) and scrunchy socks, I have compiled my 80s running playlist. Enjoy.

Our Lips Are Sealed - The Go Gos
History Never Repeats - Split Enz
Space Age Love Song - A Flock Of Seagulls
Don't Change - INXS
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield
Love Plus One - Haircut 100
Steppin' Out - Joe Jackson
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) - Dead Or Alive
Everybody Have Fun Tonight - Wang Chung
Fantastic Day - Haircut 100
Gloria - U2
Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Litany (Life Goes On) - Guadalcanal Diary

Say Goodbye To The Couch, Baby!

It's April 1st, and, no joke, I'm starting the C25K program today. My friends Julia @JewliaGoulia and Stephanie @mommas_crew were talking the other day on Twitter about wanting to do the C25K but were a bit nervous about starting it. I piped in that I'd be interested in doing it with them. We picked April 1 as the day to get going, and at last count, there are 17 of us starting today. If you want to join us, head over to Julia's blog and sign up. The more the merrier!

When, not if, I finish this, I'll be signing up to run a 5K somewhere nearby, and I'd love it if some Dallas area buddies want to sign up with me! Wish us luck and keep your fingers crossed that I don't sprain my ankle again.

Oh, and I'm looking to expand my playlist, so if you have good ideas for songs that are 60 and 90 seconds, please let me know. Most of what I have in that time range is from Les Miserables. It's great music, but not really good running music, if you know what I mean.

The Workout Playlist and Missouri 60

For the last couple of weeks I have been tweaking my workout playlist for my walk around the neighborhood. Serious music-nerd time. Compiling songs, finding the bmp for each song, ordering the songs by bmp, changing my mind, re-0rdering them, swapping out songs .... on and on it went. Today's walk was PERFECT, so I'm posting my playlist.

Hella Good - No Doubt - 115 bmp - 4:03
I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred - 121 bmp - 2:51
What Is Love - Haddaway - 126 bmp - 4:29
Can't Get You Out Of My Head - 126 bmp - 3:51
I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas - 128 bmp - 4:49
Uprising - Muse - 128 bmp - 5:05
Mercy - Duffy - 130 bmp - 3:40
Days Go By - Dirty Vegas - 127 bmp - 3:43
Walkin' On The Sun - Smashmouth - 125 bmp - 3:27
Stacy's Mom - Fountains Of Wayne - 118 bmp - 3:18
Today I'm Goldilocks and it's just right. Until I change my mind again...

(As a side note, having I'm Too Sexy in your playlist can be dangerous. You don't know how tempted I was to do my little turns on the catwalk while walking down the sidewalk. Knowing me and my relationship with the side-walk monster, I'd trip and fall spectacularly.)

And here's my Missouri 60 pictures... (grin)
Here is the first picture.
And here's the latest picture.

These look like, but aren't, the same pants I wore in the first picture. They're a pair of 12s I haven't fit into in a couple of years!
